The International Women’s Club of Antigua and Barbuda is very proud of its Scholarship programme.
This is open to all women of Antiguan nationality pursuing academic degrees or coursework in the fields of nursing, pharmacy, x-ray technician, education and economic development, but excludes legal and accounting fields. Coursework, including on-line degrees, must be pursued in educational institutions in Antigua and Barbuda or within the Caribbean.
Recipients of this award are expected to return to Antigua upon completion of their studies and apply their education towards the betterment of the nation. Awards are based on both academic excellence and need.
The International Women’s Club Scholarship is meant as a supplemental award to assist in the cost of tuition or other opportunity costs associated with higher education.
The scholarships are distributed directly to the institution or school, not the applicant. Individual awards in the past have ranged from EC$500 to EC$8,000.
Funds for the programme are raised mainly through sponsorships, donations, a live auction and green fees associated with the Club’s Annual Golf for Education Tournament.
This comment was recieved in an email from a previous scholarship recipient:
“This is a quick note to let you know that I’ve completed my Master’s in Project Management Degree course. My official score has been confirmed as 84%, and I have received official communication that our graduation ceremony will be in March 2015 – in Costa Rica.
Please express my sincere thanks to the members of the International Women’s Club for helping to make this possible.
Kind regards
Denise C George-Limerick”
